Kampala police announced on Wednesday that they have arrested five individuals suspected of orchestrating a large‑scale motorcycle theft ring after a coordinated raid in the Ndeeba suburb recovered twelve stolen motorcycles. The operation, led by the Capital City Police Command’s Crime Investigation Department, uncovered the bikes hidden in a warehouse on Ndeeba Road, along with forged registration documents and a cache of tools used for vehicle tampering. The suspects, aged between 22 and 35, are charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy to commit robbery. Police spokesperson Sergeant Grace Nabbale said the crackdown is part of a broader effort to curb the rising tide of motorcycle thefts that have plagued Kampala’s commuters over the past year. The recovered motorcycles will be returned to their rightful owners after verification.
