Contrary to earlier reports of his death, the Tooro Kingdom’s palace confirmed on Tuesday that King Oyo Nyimba Iguru remains alive but is in critical condition following a severe medical emergency. The palace released a brief statement saying the king suffered a massive stroke at his private clinic and is currently under intensive care at Fort Portal Regional Hospital. The statement urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified rumors and to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time. While the kingdom’s council of elders has temporarily assumed administrative duties, they have also called for a national prayer vigil to support the monarch’s recovery. International diplomatic missions in Uganda have expressed concern and offered medical assistance if needed.
