A vacant storefront on St. Claude Avenue has been transformed into a community‑run free store and roller‑skating rink, drawing crowds of families and young adults each weekend. Organized by the nonprofit group “Reuse & Roll,” the space offers donated clothing, books, and household items at no cost, while a smooth concrete floor has been painted with colorful lanes for skating. Founder Maya LeBlanc said the project aims to address both food‑insecure families’ needs for basic goods and the city’s lack of safe, affordable recreation. Since opening two months ago, the venue has served over 3,000 residents and plans to expand with a pop‑up garden in the adjacent lot.
