The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) announced on Monday that Michael Ochan will serve as Acting Executive Director after the resignation of long‑time director Ernest Rubondo. Rubondo, who led the agency for over a decade, stepped down to pursue private sector opportunities and to focus on advisory roles in regional energy projects. Ochan, previously the Director of Operations, brings 15 years of experience in Uganda’s oil and gas sector and is expected to oversee the final stages of the country’s East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) while maintaining regulatory oversight. The PAU board emphasized a smooth transition and pledged continuity in its strategic plans for upstream development and local content promotion.
