In a ceremony at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially launched ‘Pearl Sweet’, the new brand name for Uganda’s domestically produced crude oil. The branding exercise, part of a broader strategy to market Uganda’s petroleum exports, aims to position the country as a premium supplier in the global market. Museveni highlighted that the name reflects the country’s natural wealth and the “sweet” economic potential of its oil reserves located in the Albertine Rift. The government announced plans to certify the oil’s quality through the International Petroleum Certification Agency and to negotiate long‑term supply contracts with Asian and European buyers.
