Kampala, Uganda – In a heartfelt statement released on Monday, Ugandan business magnate Sudhir Ruparelia expressed his solidarity with the people of Nepal following the catastrophic floods that have claimed hundreds of lives and displaced thousands. The tycoon, whose conglomerate spans real estate, banking, and hospitality, announced a US$2 million emergency fund to be channeled through the Nepal Red Cross Society and local NGOs. “We stand with our Nepali brothers and sisters in this hour of need,” Ruparelia said, adding that his companies would also mobilise logistics support, including trucks and medical supplies, from the region. The pledge comes as the United Nations urges the international community to step up aid, citing the rapid rise of water levels in the Koshi and Gandaki river basins as climate‑change‑linked events.
