As the 2030 deadline looms, a new UN‑commissioned report evaluates progress across the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). While Goal 7 (affordable and clean energy) shows the most promise, with renewable capacity increasing by 45 % since 2015, most other targets lag behind. Poverty reduction (Goal 1) has stalled at a 2 % annual decline, far short of the 5 % needed. Climate action (Goal 13) is especially concerning, with global emissions still rising. The report highlights that without accelerated financing, stronger governance and equitable technology transfer, only a handful of the goals are likely to be fully achieved by 2030. Policymakers are urged to adopt integrated strategies that address multiple goals simultaneously.
